The most commonly golf grip used is overlapping grip. It is mainly used by male players and those with strong wrists and forearms. The little finger of his right hand is over or overlaps the index finger of his left hand.

The most commonly golf grip used for younger players, women, elderly and those with no strong wrists and forearms is the baseball grip.  This type, hold the grip hand by hand, the index finger of the left hand and the little finger of the right hand touch but not overlap or interlock.

An interlocking grip is used by golf players with shorter hands and fingers, those with thicker palms and for who have difficulty with the overlapping grip. The index finger of the left hand and the little finger of the right hand overlap and interlock.

The basic way for grip a golf club, you can start with holding the club in front of you with the right hand and pointing the club head away from you at an angle of about 45 degrees.

Then grip the club with the left hand. The club will be in the palm across the pads at the base of the fingers. However, the club will be across in the first section of the index finger. The thumb will be placed right at the top of the golf club shaft. From the golf club, your thumb will be in a position to noon.

Now, grip the golf club with the right hand, just above the left hand with fingers, not palm of your right hand. The thumb will be pointed slightly to the left.  From the golf club, the thumb will be in a position of eleven o’clock.

If you grip the club correctly, then the first two fingers of the left hand will be visible only. Also, the left thumb should be completely hidden under your right hand. The index finger position of the right hand will look like a gun finger snap.

If your pressure to the golf grip is right, the club could almost be out of your hands, but not quite. Holding a golf club properly, you will feel as if you hold the club particularly in the palm of the hand and the last three fingers of the left hand. Regardless, both hands should hold the club with balancing pressure. A correct golf grip doesn’t mean that you will be successful in golf swing but if you are gripping the golf club correctly and properly, your golf swing should be better improved.
