Once you have driven off the tee box, you will probably be faced with a second shot, hopefully from the fairway. Of course, we hope that you’ve been able to make it to the green, but on longer par 5 holes, that’s just not realistic for most golfers.

The lie of the ball in a fairway shot will dictate how you hit your next shot. In some friendly games, your opponents may allow you to put the ball up on some grass. This will emulate, in a way, a tee since you cannot use a tee with a fairway shot.

In tournaments or serious money games, you will probably have to play the ball as it lies, so it’s a good idea to know how to hit an effective fairway shot. Fairway woods are an excellent solution to the alternative to drivers off the tee and for long hard hitting irons like the 2-, 3-, or 4- irons. There are three factors which make the fairway woods the preferred club.

Many golfers feel more comfortable while standing over a long fairway with a longer and lower profile wood rather than a long iron that is harder to hit. It is easier to get the ball in the air out of the fairway if you have a lower center of gravity. This is also true if you are in the rough or in the sand.

Your golf game is one that is working to improve. To improve your golf game, you need to step back and reflect on how to hit the ball. Did you watch others as they are hitting the ball? If you watch a good shot and do a little ‘, then you see the movements of the body that you want to play these movements with your body.

Although each person has only one method that works better than others, you can practice the movements of other players and try it for yourself. If at first you can not, try another move.
